Old foreign body in vertebra: delayed symptoms

Abstract

A 63 year-old man presented with 1-month history of progressive low back pain increased intensity in last few days. The patient stated that he had bullet injury since 19 year ago, but since no any effect at that time he was discharged with some analgesia. Physical examination revealed sever tenderness located in lower back. X-ray of spine revealed the presence of bullet embedded in 3rd vertebra. A bullet was removed surgically and covered patient with broad spectrum antibiotic. On 2-month follow-up, the patient healed without low back pain or any neurological complication.
