Advanced Journal of Biomedicine & Medicine (AJBM) upholds the highest standards of editorial integrity, transparency, and ethical publishing. The journal operates in accordance with internationally recognized principles of scholarly communication, biomedical ethics, and research integrity.
Ethical Framework
AJBM is a follower of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and adheres to the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) Recommendations for the Conduct, Reporting, Editing, and Publication of Scholarly Work in Medical Journals. The journal also complies with the Good Publication Practice (GPP3) guidelines for authorship, data transparency, and disclosure of potential conflicts of interest.
All manuscripts submitted to AJBM must comply with these ethical frameworks, ensuring honesty, accuracy, originality, accountability, and reproducibility in research reporting.
Editorial Independence
Editorial decisions are made solely on the basis of the scientific merit, methodological rigor, and relevance of the submission to AJBM’s scope. The Editor-in-Chief maintains full editorial independence and final authority over all editorial content and publication decisions. These decisions are not influenced by institutional, political, or financial interests.
Peer Review Policy
All submissions undergo a rigorous double-blind peer-review process.
- Initial screening: suitability, originality, and ethical compliance;
- External review: at least two independent reviewers with subject expertise evaluate the manuscript for scientific validity, methodological quality, and significance;
- Additional review: statistical or ethical review may be requested when appropriate;
- Decision: final publication decisions are made by the Editor-in-Chief in consultation with the Editorial Board.
AJBM displays Received, Revised, Accepted, and Online dates on all articles to ensure transparency.
Authorship and Contributor Responsibilities
Authorship credit must be based on the four ICMJE criteria:
- Substantial contributions to the conception or design of the work; or the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data.
- Drafting the work or revising it critically for important intellectual content.
- Final approval of the version to be published.
- Agreement to be accountable for all aspects of the work.
All authors must approve the final version of the manuscript and agree to its submission. AJBM applies the CRediT (Contributor Roles Taxonomy) to record individual author contributions.
Requests to add, remove, or reorder authors after submission must be justified and accompanied by written approval from all listed authors.
Originality and Plagiarism
AJBM only considers original manuscripts that have not been published previously and are not under consideration elsewhere.
All submissions are screened using iThenticate or equivalent plagiarism detection software. Plagiarism, duplicate publication, data fabrication, falsification, or image manipulation will lead to rejection and may result in notification of the authors’ institutions, in line with COPE procedures.
Conflict of Interest
All authors, reviewers, and editors must disclose any actual or potential conflicts of interest (financial, personal, institutional, or professional) that could inappropriately influence their work or judgment.
If no conflicts exist, the manuscript must include the statement: “The authors declare no conflicts of interest.”
Editors and reviewers must recuse themselves from handling manuscripts where conflicts exist.
Ethics of Human and Animal Research
AJBM requires full compliance with recognized international ethical standards:
- Human research must follow the Declaration of Helsinki (2013) and include an Ethics Approval Statement (name of approving IRB/REC, approval number, and date).
- Animal research must follow internationally accepted standards (e.g., ARRIVE guidelines) and include an animal ethics approval statement.
- Clinical trials must be registered in a publicly accessible registry (e.g., ClinicalTrials.gov or WHO ICTRP) before recruitment of the first participant.
- Manuscripts must include a statement confirming that informed consent (and assent, where appropriate) was obtained.
Data Transparency and Availability
AJBM promotes data integrity in accordance with the FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable). All manuscripts must include a Data Availability Statement indicating where the data supporting the findings can be found (e.g. public repository, institutional repository, or “available from the corresponding author on reasonable request”).
When data cannot be shared due to privacy, legal, or ethical reasons, this must be clearly justified in the statement.
Corrections, Retractions, and Editorial Expressions
To maintain the integrity of the scholarly record, AJBM will issue Corrections, Editorial Expressions of Concern, or Retractions in accordance with COPE Retraction Guidelines.
All such notices will be made freely available and permanently linked to the original article.
Use of Artificial Intelligence Tools
Authors must disclose any use of generative AI or AI-assisted tools (e.g. ChatGPT, Grammarly, DeepL) in manuscript drafting, language editing, or data analysis. AI tools cannot be listed as authors. Human authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of the submitted work.
Editorial Confidentiality
All manuscripts, reviewer reports, and editorial correspondence are treated as confidential. Reviewers must not share, distribute, or use material from submitted manuscripts for personal or professional advantage.

AJBM provides a clear procedure for handling complaints and appeals.
- Complaints should be sent to: complaints@ajbm.net
