1. Duplicate Submission and Publication
-
Manuscripts submitted to AJBM must be original and unpublished.
-
Submissions that have been published in whole or in part in another journal, book, conference proceeding, or online platform will not be considered.
-
This restriction applies to all languages. Translations or re-submissions of articles already published in another language (including local or non-English journals) are not permitted.
2. Redundant and Overlapping Publication
-
Articles that overlap substantially with previously published work, without clear citation or justification, will be rejected.
-
If duplicate or redundant publication is identified after publication, AJBM will issue a Retraction Notice or Expression of Concern in line with COPE Retraction Guidelines.
3. Secondary Publications (Exceptions)
-
In limited cases, AJBM may consider republication of important research (e.g., policy statements, guidelines, or consensus documents) if:
-
Authors have received written approval from the copyright holder of the original publication.
-
The secondary publication provides clear citation to the original article.
-
Readers are informed that the work has been previously published.
-
-
Such cases will be handled transparently and in accordance with ICMJE recommendations on overlapping publications.
4. Author Responsibilities
-
Authors must declare during submission that their work has not been published elsewhere, in any language.
-
If related work is under consideration in another outlet, this must be disclosed in the cover letter.
-
Violations of this policy may result in rejection, retraction, or notification to authors’ institutions.
