Animal Research Ethics Requirements

The Advanced Journal of Biomedicine & Medicine (AJBM) is committed to maintaining the highest ethical standards in research involving animals. All studies must demonstrate compliance with international, national, and institutional animal care and ethics regulations.

1. Ethical Framework

  • The 3Rs Principle — Replacement, Reduction, Refinement
  • ICLAS Guidelines (International Council for Laboratory Animal Science)
  • Applicable national and institutional animal welfare laws

2. Institutional Approval Requirements

All studies must have IACUC or equivalent approval, with documentation provided at submission (approval letter, number, and date).

3. Animal Care and Use

Facilities must ensure humane care, proper housing, pain minimization, and adherence to AVMA or equivalent euthanasia guidelines.

4. Reporting Requirements

Authors must comply with the ARRIVE Guidelines ↗, providing ethical statements, justifications, and welfare descriptions within manuscripts.

5. International and Collaborative Research

Multi-site or international studies must have local ethics approval at each participating institution and meet global welfare standards.

6. Publication Requirements

All published manuscripts must disclose ethics approval, compliance with ARRIVE, funding sources, and conflicts of interest.
